Finding YOUR WHY

YoFitUSA News

Knowing your purpose may compel you to take on challenges that will stretch you as much as they inspire you. Just as a boat under power can handle any size wave if perpendicular to it, when you’re powered by a clear purpose, there is little you cannot do. It is pretty safe to say that we all feel a little lost right now. I have heard some people feel as though they no longer have control of their life and are trying to regain their power back. Many are beginning to take that first step to reevaluate and see what in their lives they can improve on. This often looks like a quick 10 minute or less self reflection. While this first step seems so easy, it is truly the hardest – it is so much more than a simple critical thinking moment. There must be accountability and action in order to see change, and here is where most people seem to get tripped up. Due to lack of understanding, many people set goals for themselves that they never seem to achieve. They automatically think that it is because they are not deserving or not good enough for their dreams. To whomever needs to hear this, you are so so so wrong!

Here is your wake up call, the sign you’ve been searching for..

Have you ever set a goal, become super excited, and then felt like you no longer had the energy to accomplish this goal? Have you ever lost your momentum or drive? This might be due to the lack of PURPOSE,  or as a result of not having a strong enough WHY. Why are you chasing this specific goal? How will achieving this goal benefit your life?

Knowing your “why” gives you reason to push forward. It is what allows you to overcome any excuse you try to make for why you cannot get to where you want to go!

There are many basic principles to help outline your why. What I have gathered is that it can all be squished into one acronym.

It must be measurable, so it is S.M.A.R.T.

  • Specific.
  • Measurable.
  • Attainable.
  • Relevant.
  • Time Bound.

Having a clear outline of expectations and general rules for yourself will help you maintain your drive and help you set attainable goals! By using the list above, you are able to tailor your goals to your personal needs, while still keeping them realistic!

And while you are at it, make sure you share your dreams with your team. There is no need to go through this journey alone. Having a cheerleading squad at your back is incredible motivation. Your accomplishments will still be your own, but the barriers can be taken down together! Working through problems with two heads is always better than one.

Now that you have the tools to take those necessary steps, play it SMART and remember YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH and YOU ARE DESERVING of your dreams! You may not have known how to turn your dreams into reality or how to make them come to life, but now you do and you are so capable!Don’t aim for the moon, just to land amongst the stars. Build your rocket ship, with the moon’s coordinates, and make a proper and clear landing!-With love and light, Sophia
